About

Welcome to Meijer International, where I display my paintings.

Right now I am working on a series of paintings that I call:
"Apparatus without purpose or functionality, described with unreadable text."

The concept came about in november 2017, while I was in Oxford to visit my daughters.

My first sketch

Soon thereafter I travelled to southern Portugal.
Here I began to work on a series of paintings of different "apparatus."
I decided to work in large formats with acrylic on canvas.
The current sizes range from 90x60 to 155x90 cm.

The inspiration draws from many things. For example my early memories of my dads drawings of (real) airplanes that he built, my studies of architectural drawing and also seeing sketches by brilliant inventors such as Nikola Tesla. The list could be made much longer.

There is also a connection to my school years. I had a hard time to stay focused and could rarley understand what the teachers said. I did not learn to tell time until I was 14.
So maybe this thing about making pictures of things that can not be read or understood is my revenge on a society that was "unreadable" to me - ?
The paintings are negatives with white lines on black background, just like the blackboards from my childhood, with scribblings that seldom made sense to me.
Maybe it is all some sort of therapy?
Well, to me there is therapy in these paintings and I enjoy it a lot.
The finished paintings always bring a smile to my face, and often a giggle.

I was born in Linköping, Sweden but I am currently residing in southern Portugal as a volunteer at a environmental research center.
